Transport We have shown below means of access to the start and finish of each section. You might also like to consider the Traveline Cymru for overall journey planning. Teifi Pools to Lampeter Lampeter to Llandysul Llandysul to Poppit Stage One – Teifi Pools to Lampeter Teifi Pools You can reach Pontrhydfendigaid by public transport from Aberystwyth using the T21 bus service which runs three times a day (no service on Sundays). This bus service continues to Tregaron as well. The start of the trail at Strata Florida Abbey is just one mile from Bont and can be reached on foot. Alternatively there is free parking available at the abbey if you are coming by car. Tregaron also has free parking available as well as a chargeable car park. It is on the T21 bus route to Aberystwyth but also is on the T585 bus route which connects Aberystwyth to Tregaron, Llanddewi Brefi and Lampeter so this is a very useful service for the TVT hiker. Lampeter As well as being connected by bus to the communities on Stage 1 of the route, as shown above, Lampeter has free parking space available within the town and is a good place to leave a vehicle. There are also a number of paid-for car parks which offer multi-day parking tickets. Stage Two – Lampeter to Llandysul Lampeter Bus services from Lampeter tend to go to Aberystwyth and Carmarthen and do not serve much of the Teifi Valley directly. There is however the T1 bus route which services the TVT walker’s needs as far as Llanybydder and then Llanllwni but after that, accessing the lower reaches of the Teifi Valley Trail by public transport is best done by buses from Cardigan. Lampeter does have plenty of parking and paid-for car parks offer multi-day tickets if you wish to leave your car here. Taxi services are available but most taxis are involved in school pickups in term time so the hours around 9am and 3pm are usually not available. Llandysul There are long distance buses which service Llandysul such as the T1C bus route which connects Aberystwyth to Carmarthen to Cardiff but getting to places along the Teifi Trail is not so easy by public transport from Llandysul. We would recommend using your private vehicle with support from a local taxi service or ask your accommodation provider to assist you or advise who might be able to do so if they cannot. There is a large pay-and-display car park in Llandysul. Stage Three – Llandysul to Poppit Llandysul There are no public transport links from Llandysul further along the Teifi Valley so you will be reliant on your own vehicle or taxi to get around in this part of the trail. However, accommodation providers are often willing to help with short transfers so definitely ask. Once you get to Newcastle Emlyn however, there is the useful 460 Bus Route which provides a service between Cardigan, Llechryd, Cenarth, Newcastle Emlyn, Drefach and Henllan which are all places along the trail. Poppit Sands There is a regular 408 Bus Service which connect Cardigan with St Dogmaels and Poppit Sands. This will ensure that you can finish the route and get return transport. You might like to try the Pembrokeshire ‘on demand’ Fflecsi bus service for accessing elsewhere (https://www.richardsbros.co.uk/405). You can download the Fflecsi app for more information. If you are driving your own vehicle there are car parks at Poppit Sands, St Dogmaels and Cardigan but please note that the road from St Dogmaels to Poppit Sands is very narrow and can get blocked in the town in high summer especially when there are vehicles towing caravans.
