Drefach Felindre As well as the woollen mill, there is a small centre with two pubs and a grocery store. Extract from The Teifi Valley Trail Guide (due to be published in 2026): “Though Dre-fach Felindre seems such as quiet place today, in the second half of the 19th century it was the busy centre of the Teifi Valley woollen boom. The swiftly flowing tributaries of the River Teifi provided energy and power for the machinery that cleaned the untreated wool and transformed it into fabric. Sheep were abundant on nearby farms and wool was in equally abundant supply. Customers were more distant but with the arrival of the railway in Llandysul in 1864 and the opening of the extension to Newcastle Emlyn in 1895, transporting the finished shirts, underwear and blankets to market became a relatively easy task. This coincided with the expansion of the South Wales coal fields where customers were even more abundant. By the 1890s there were 23 woollen factories in Dre-fach Felindre and in the surrounding area.” National Woollen Mill – Drefach Felindre, SA44 5UP (closed Sunday and Monday) Pub – Tafarn John y Gwas – Drefach Felindre, SA44 5XG Pub – The Red Lion – Drefach Felindre, SA44 5UH Morrisons Daily grocery store – Drefach Felindre, SA44 5UG Y Pantri Bach health food store – Drefach Felindre, SA44 5UG There are no public toilets in the village Bus route 460 between Cardigan and Carmarthen calls in Drefach Felindre
